Travel is the exchange of people from one country to another, and as such, also an exchange of information and culture.
People who travel bring their own culture with them when they go to another country. And when they experience the country that they travel to, this promotes an exchange of information, as when that person goes back to his own country, he will have had more knowledge about that country, himself, and to whoever else he talks about it to.
It also promotes communication because when you travel, you have to interact with the people of where you go. This also gives an opportunity to exchange information with those people. As such, this is a two-way deal: as I've mentioned before, the person who traveled will go back and share that knowledge. The person that this person met will also share his knowledge with other people, about that person's country, his people, etc. That in itself is a promotion of understanding and communication.
